Residential, Dementia and Learning Difficulty Care Home

St Mary's Care Home

St Mary’s aspires to high standards of personal care for dementia, learning difficulty and residential requirements, including care for those with Parkinson's and Huntington's disease. Respite and convalescence provision are also available from a team of professionals who prioritise the dignity and respect of each individual. Situated in the rolling countryside in the village of Linthorpe, the facility has been purpose-built to provide comfortable and secure accommodation. Residents can eat and socialise in spacious dining rooms while enjoying well-furnished lounges, access to secure gardens and bedrooms with memory boxes to aid cognitive ability. Freshly prepared meals are made to suit personal taste and diet, which are assessed soon after each client’s arrival. Many group and individual activities add to the atmosphere of the home, including painting and gardening clubs, with themed events, such as garden parties, taking place each month.

Residential Care

St Mary’s care home has facilities to meet all levels of care, whilst promoting independence and respecting dignity. A thorough pre-admission assessment takes place to ensure a good handover and that everything is in place prior to admission. Staff will provide assistance and support with all aspects of daily living and mobility where needed following person centred care plans formulated in collaboration with the residents and family.

Dementia Care

St Mary’s care home has been designed using dementia focussed research to ensure that the environment is suitable and enhances the lives of the residents, giving them choice and ability to retain a sense of identity. Staff provide the support and reassurance to reduce confusion, anxiety and frustration. Activities are facilitated that all abilities can take part in and enjoy and many reminiscence resources are present. We understand and adapt our approach as needs change.

Respite

Caring for a loved one can be challenging and at times a break can be needed to re-charge or a life event may bring the need for short term care which we can provide, whether it is a few nights or a few weeks. Staff are trained to encourage residents and are skilled at getting people back on their feet after an illness or period in hospital before returning to their own home.

Learning Difficulty

At St Mary's care home, we provide comfortable and well-equipped care for people with mild or moderate learning disabilities. Care and support are tailored to each individual’s needs, wishes and goals and we work with each person to create a bespoke care and support plan. We support our service users to live a fulfilling and rewarding life, supporting them in their daily activities and tasks and maintaining their independence. We provide a diverse range of leisure and recreational activities that our service uses can choose.
